About Derrick

Derrick Brown is a singer songwriter and producer. He began playing piano and singing in the choir at the age of 6 and continued singing in choirs throughout college where he attended Reinhardt College and MTSU on vocal scholarships. After MTSU Derrick worked at the Bluebird Cafe as the host where he met and wrote with several of Nashville’s brightest writers. In 2004 he moved to NYC where he wrote and recorded his third record.  The record “Come to life” was recorded with Ryan Stevens and Taiwan Green (engineer and producer, Jay-Z, Busta Rhymes, NAS). Also while in New York Derrick toured with Alvin Moody (engineer and bass player/Clive Davis, Band leader and bass player Gavin DeGraw, Roz Brown). In 2007 Derrick won the State Botanical Gardens of Georgia Songwriting competition. He has had several of his songs licensed and placed in film and television. Derrick also sang background vocals on The Flying Burrito Brothers (members of “The Band”) Derrick enjoys facilitating a welcoming positive environment for all he works with. His official unofficial official job title is Good Vibes Coordinator. He is currently living in Nashville and working on his next musical offerings.
